According to police, the couple tied the knot five years ago and were serving at the AIIMS staff quarters in south Delhi. Police received information regarding Priya’s death during a search operation of several hotels in Paharganj. “We are investigating the case from all angles and based on the suicide note, we have arrested Kamal from his residence at AIIMS quarters in the afternoon. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code,” police said. Vedi’s last message on Facebook read: “Dr Kamal Vedi, I never wanted anything from you but due to your abnormal sexuality, you thought that I need sex from you. But it’s wrong. I just wanted to be with you, accepting you and your sexual orientation because I loved you very much but you never knew importance of this. You are a criminal of my life. This 51 Year Old Woman Dug for 6 Hours Every Day Over 3 Months to Build a Well for Her Plants When Gouri S Naik, who is a member of the Dharmastala Rural Development Scheme, came to a meeting complaining about aches in her body, the other members and officers wondered about what she was up to that she was tired all the time. So, they decided to go to her home and see if she was fine. That’s when they discovered, that in order to ensure a steady supply of water for herself and her plants, she had spent hours everyday building a well. Gouri, 51, from Ganesh Nagar, Sirsi in Uttara Kannada (a district in Karnataka), is a daily-wage labourer, who also happens to have grown 150 areca, 15 coconut and some banana trees near her house. Since she couldn’t afford to commission a well in order to tend to these plants and trees under her care, she decided to literally take matters into her own hands. Thus, for a span of three months, she spent five to six hours digging in order to build a well herself. She did this in addition to her duties as a labourer. At the very end, she solicited the help of three other women to help her clear the dirt from the 60-foot deep well she had managed to dig herself. Due to her effort, today, she has her own well that has seven feet of water in it and she no longer has to worry about watering her plants. She has also earned the respect of those around her, who have taken to calling her ‘Lady Bhagiratha’ (according to Hindu mythology, Bhagiratha was a king who brought the river Ganges to Earth from the heavens). Vinoda, a scheme officer from the Dharmastala Rural Development Scheme, spoke to Times of India noting, “When Gouri came to the meeting, she would complain about body ache. But we did not know about her work in digging a well. It was only when we visited her home that we found out what she was doing.”

Researchers discovered less grey matter in the brains of men who regularly view pornography compared with those who don’t. Experts say it’s the first evidence for a link between watching sexually explicit material and reductions in brain size – but the new study doesn’t prove that pornography causes changes to the brain. They say an alternative explanation could be that men with a certain type of brain with overly-sensitive reward stimuli – known as the ‘striatum’ - could be more likely to use pornography. Dr Simone Kühn from the Max Planck Institution in Berlin led the study. “Unfortunately we cannot answer this question based on the results of the present,” she said. “It’s not clear, for example, whether watching porn leads to brain changes or whether people born with certain brain types watch more porn”. Dr Kühn and colleagues from Berlin’s Charite University used 64 healthy men between the ages of 21 and 45 years and studied their porn-watching habits. They matched their survey results with scans of the men’s brains and observed both the volume of the brain and the way they reacted to sexually explicit images. The findings, published in the JAMA Psychiatry Journal, have been met with scepticism from some experts who say that watching pornography in moderation was probably not harmful. Dr Gregory Tau from Columbia University said that porn-watching was “probably not terrible in moderation”. “It is possible that there are individuals with a certain kind of brain that are more susceptible to these kinds of behaviours,” he said. “Or, it’s possible it’s the excessive use (of porn) that’s perpetuating itself to causing brain changes. "The spy has been tried through Field General Court Martial (FGCM) under Pakistan Army Act (PAA) and awarded death sentence. Today COAS, General Qamar Javed Bajwa has confirmed death sentence awarded by FGCM. "RAW agent Commander Kulbushan Sundir Jadhav was tired under FGCM under section 59 of Pakistan Army Act (PAA) 1952 and Section 3 of official Secret Act of 1923. "The FGCM found Jadhav guilty of all charges. He confessed before a Magistrate and the Court that he was tasked by RAW to plan, coordinate and organise espionage/sabotage activities aiming to destabilise and wage war against Pakistan by impeding the efforts of Law Enforcement Agencies for restoring peace in Balochistan and Karachi," said the press release. Suspect confesses he acted upon university admin?s directions against Mashal PESHAWAR: A prime suspect identified as Wajahat has admitted to his role in the lynching of Mashal Khan, the student who was brutally murdered by charged mob in Abdul Wali Khan University last week. According to police sources, Wajahat in his statement said he was told by the administration of the university to level blasphemy allegations and act against Mashal Khan. Wajahat said he was called to the chancellor’s office on April 13 where 15-20 people were present. He added that despite officials from the university administration, lecturers Ziaullah and Asfandyar were also present in the office. Sources quoting Wajahat said that he had given a speech in university premises against Mashal Khan and other students upon the directions of university administration. Wajahat said he told other students that he himself had heard Mashal and others committing blasphemy, adding that if he had known the conspiracy being hatched against the affected students, he would have never attended the university on the day of the incident. Wajahat said he spread the word of Mashal, Abdullah and Zubair committing blasphemy on the directives of university administration. The security in charge Bilal Baksh said that anyone taking side of Mashal and his comrade would be dealt with iron hands and he [Bilal] himself would kill Mashal. Wajahat said that his speech had provoked the mob, which lynched Mashal. Earlier, Abdullah the student who was injured by the mob also recorded his statement before the magistrate. In his statement, Abdullah claimed that prior to the murder of Mashal Khan, the administration of the university was ‘deadly’ against him because he was critical of loopholes in the system. “He [Mashal] had also given an interview to AVT Khyber disclosing and unleashing the aggression and hostility of university administration.” “Mashal Khan criticised the administration for misusing the authority and not providing the best services to students especially the under-privileged.” Abdullah said that on April 13 at 11 AM, he received a phone call from a friend, who he said was conspirator, asking him to come to the journalism department. In the statement, Abdullah claimed the actual perpetrator, who was the class representative, along with other students blamed him, Mashal and Zubair of committing blasphemy. “I bluntly refused the despicable allegations and then recited Kalma in front of them and also translated the same in both languages, Urdu and Pushto. After hearing the Kalma from my mouth, they forced me to give a deposition that Mashal Khan had committed blasphemy but I refused as I have never heard any scandalous or blasphemous words by Mashal.” Abdullah stated that during the course of the events he was shut in the bathroom of the Chairman Office by teachers in fear that he might be assaulted. Abdullah added that he was also put in the clerk office earlier. YouTube will now block ads on channels with under 10,000 views YouTube is taking measures to help ensure its user-generated content doesn’t end up positioning ads by big brands next to questionable content. The social network will not allow ads on channels that have fewer than 10,000 views total, across all their posted videos. YouTube told The Wall Street Journal that the measure has been in development since November, and that it’s intended to block channels which steal content from other sources from deriving revenue from the platform. YouTube is facing a significant backlash for displaying ads from partners against video containing racist and otherwise objectionable content. Google apologized for the mistake, and adapted its policies, but some major brands, including Coca-Cola, PepsiCo (which is rich, considering its subsequent Kendall Jenner snafu) and Walmart pulled advertising other than targeted search following reports by the WSJ of the ads being displayed against unsavory content. Previously, YouTube has made participation in its advertising program relatively easy: Account owners can apply to run ads next to their videos and it turned out there was very little in the way of barriers to getting approved. Here’s The Iconic Love Story Behind The Name Of The City Of Umerkot In Sindh Umerkot, situated at a distance of 400 kilometers from Larkana, Benazir Bhutto’s hometown, is known for two main reasons; the age old love story of Umer and Marvi and for being the birthplace of the Great Mughal Emperor, Akbar the Great. In an attempt to trace the history behind Umer, Marvi’s love story I traveled all the way to Umerkot January 2016 is when I began my journey across the desert of Tharparkar. I, along with 13 companions, reached Umerkot at maghrib time, after traveling a couple of days, stopping at various spiritual sites on our journey, from Lahore. As luck had it, we couldn’t find a place to stay the night we reached Umerkot. There were hardly any guest houses in the city and the one that was present was all booked with some foreign delegation. The Soomro family of Umerkot heard about us and were kind and warm enough to lend us four of their rooms to stay in. After settling in, one of my companions, Mehlab Jameel, narrated the love saga of Umer and Marvi Umerkot is named after the king Umer Soomro, the man who fell in love with Marvi. “The story of Umer and Marvi appears in Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s Shah Jo Risalo. Bhittai’s version is considered the most famous and authentic one. Marvi, a beautiful maid in the village of Malir in Tharparkar, was betrothed to a local villager, Khet, whom she loved dearly. His rival tried to impress Marvi, overcome as he was by her beauty, but she chose Khet over him. Stung by jealousy, he went to the court of the local ruler and spoke of Marvi’s beauty. Sindh was being ruled by Umer Soomro at the time, with his capital in Umerkot. Umer visited Marvi’s village in Malir, in search of the beautiful damsel that the commoner waxed lyrical to him about. Upon setting his eyes on her as she drew water from a well, he was so struck by her beauty that he asked her to marry him. He offered her jewels and the temptations of life in a palace, but Marvi refused. Umer abducted Marvi from that well and imprisoned her in his palace in Umerkot. Marvi, who was used to the majestic sand dunes and vast skies of Thar, was grief-stricken with a life in the king’s palace. Like a caged bird, she would weep everyday and long for her home. Every day Umer would try to convince Marvi to marry him but she refused him, every time. Gradually, with each passing day, Marvi’s memories of her homeland grew more painful, and she continued to refuse. Overwhelmed by grief, she stopped eating and bathing and was living in utmost misery. Upon hearing of her melancholic state, Umer visited her and begged her to marry him so he could make her his queen and relieve her from her pain. She replied, “If looking to my native land, with longing I expire; carry my body home, that I may rest in desert-sand; if my bones reach Malir, in the end, though dead, I’ll live again.” Moved by her unwavering love for her homeland, Umer let Marvi go after a year of imprisonment. His men escorted Marvi to her village with due protocol and a message that she was being returned in the state that she had been taken. When she reached her village, the elders cast doubts about her chastity but her lover, Khet, took her back and the marriage was back on track. On the night of her marriage, as she waited for her husband, she thought of what she would say if her husband questioned her chastity. This thought was too much for her to bear, and she breathed her last at that very moment. Regardless of the circumstances of her death, Marvi was immortalized because of her strong-willed and determined character, and her pure love for her homeland. She is remembered today as one of the bravest women in Sindhi history. It wasn’t her love for Umer that makes her immortal but her love for her own home, her steadfast nature and her conviction are what make her an icon in Sindhi folk history. The well where King Umer first laid his eyes on Marvi is currently located in the Bhalwa village of Nagarparkar. Nagarparkar is basically a small town in the desert of Tharparkar and is located at a distance of 200 kilometers form Umerkot. The well stands there in all its glory but it now has a cultural complex around it, called the Marvi Cultural complex. The cultural complex consists of several Ghopa shaped structure; each of them harbors various things from the life of Umer and Marvi. One of them has sculptures of Marvi, her friends and King Umer Soomro while the others have Marvi’s bangles, utensils and clothes in glass frames. While one of the Ghopas has sofas for the visitors to sit and reflect on this beautiful love story.
