The bravest mother in Britain... or the craziest? It was supposed to be a big, happy announcement as Justine Radiven beamingly told one of her closest friends about her recently confirmed pregnancy. It would be her fourth child, and one she and her husband Daniel had both very much planned for. Yet the response was more one of concern than congratulations. Justine, 37, recalls: ‘She placed her hand gently over mine and simply said, “Isn’t this crazy?” ’ The reason for the muted reaction? Daniel was dying from a rare and aggressive cancer. It was incurable; it was not a case of if but when the disease would claim his life.
