Air hostess reveals horror after Emirates sacked her

Air hostess reveals horror after Emirates sacked her A FORMER air hostess claims she was sacked by Emirates airlines who treated her like a “criminal” after she fell down stairs and broke her ankle while working. Ciara Burke, 23, from Perth, Australia, was kicked off Emirates Aviation College after she was left in a fractured foot walking boot and suffering from a sore back days before she was set to graduate to become a full flight attendant. Burke claims she was wearing high heels as part of her uniform when the bone-crunching tumble occurred and was then told she was not fit enough to complete her intensive training. The 23-year-old had moved to Dubai for her “dream job” and she had been living a jet-set lifestyle flying to locations such as Paris, Rome, and Copenhagen. The brunette gleefully posted snaps of herself globe-trotting while working for the “world’s best airline.” Burke says she was given no representation, as the workplace unions are banned in the UAE. In an explosive Facebook post, she slammed Emirates claiming the airline “covered up” her accident and treated her like a “criminal.” She said: “I was in a back brace and a cast which changed to moon boot for weeks. “I was seeing doctors and physiotherapists every two to three days to help control and ease the indescribable pain. “A few weeks after the accident Emirates fired me and told me that my accident was NOT classed as an industrial injury but instead a “freak accident”. “I wasn’t allowed to defend myself or appeal the decision and there are no unions in Dubai that I could turn to for help… I was heartbroken.” Burke, who has now returned home to Perth, told Australian news outlet Fairfax Media that she was given glowing feedback by her bosses who said she was “really good” at her job. Burke said despite still suffering pain from her ankle and back, it is a her broken heart which aches the most.
